Hi,

Founders and CEOs are waking up to the idea that thought leadership and yes, that dreaded word, influence, is important for building their brands and businesses. But I still don’t think many of them have any idea just how important, or what the impacts can actually be.

So, we’re gonna fix that.

But, to prevent this from becoming a 20,000-word email, we’ll start with just this: What posting regularly on LinkedIn can do for your business.

  • More Leads: LinkedIn research shows that startups whose founders post at least 10x a year on LinkedIn generate 33% more leads than those who don’t.

  • Bigger Deals: One company saw 3.7x larger deal size when their executives posted regularly.

  • Winning: That same company reported an 11% higher win rate as well for deals where prospects saw their execs’ LinkedIn posts or followed them, as compared with non-LinkedIn-influenced deals.

If you don’t want more leads and bigger deals that you actually win, feel free to stop reading.

Still here? I hope so. And here’s one more metric to consider: faster closing time. Data from Gong shows that deals close 22% faster when buyers feel like they “know you,” something that tools like LinkedIn offer at scale.

It all points back to one of the most fundamental principles of business: People don’t buy from companies. They buy from people. Usually, from people they like and trust. For busy CEOs looking to expand their network of people who like and trust them, LinkedIn is the fastest (and free-est) tool available.

But, you have to do it. You have to post. And you have to do it again. And one more time after that.

For too many CEOs and founders, that’s harder than it sounds. And I want to change that too.

That’s why, in the new year, I’m offering CEOs the chance to work with me (and each other) directly for an hour a week to develop post ideas, dig into their analytics, figure out what works (and what doesn’t), and generally hold themselves accountable to the act of posting. The first question of every meeting will be, “What did you post this week?” and while we won’t outright shame anyone who comes with nothing, it will only be your loss over time.

I’m calling it The Hook Lab, and the first one (kicking off in January) is open to just 5 people. Want in? Reply to this message, and I’ll send you all the details, as well as set up a quick chat to make sure it’s a good fit (yes, this will be required).

So, what are you posting on LinkedIn this week?

See you next week,
Megan
